Sanctuary Gardens was established in 2000 and is a husband and wife partnership. John & Debbie Olsen have completed a variety of projects from Garden Design & Planting Plans through to Garden Makeovers and Construction for Residential clients as well as the local school and preschools.
BSc (Botany), Diploma in Landscape Design.
Debbie has a wealth of experience, beginning her career by spending 5 years at an old-fashioned rose nursery and garden. She then spent another year at a Palmers Garden Centre before starting a family.
After these years in gardening work Debbie decided to move into design. She completed a Diploma in Landscape Design from Unitec Institue of Technology, graduating in 2000. She took on the odd job with Sanctuary Gardens in her final year and together with John has gradually built it to what it is today.
Debbie loves to take something and create it into someone's dream. Whether it is reshaping an existing garden or creating a garden from scratch - the work is deeply satisfying.
Over the past 15 years Debbie has co-hosted a radio talkback Garden Show on Radio Rhema and now also does a short weekday garden slot on Southern Star Radio called Garening Matters. To listen in to an episode visit Gardening Matters on the Southern Star Website.
Debbie loves the joys of gardening and teaching others how to enjoy it too. She is available for garden talks and rose pruning demonstrations to garden groups. Contact Debbie if you would like to book her for a talk or demonstration for your group.
